Producer Price Indices in September 2005

According to Statistics Finland, producer price indices rose by between 2.3 and 6.7 per cent in the year to this September. Import prices went up most, especially due to increases in the prices of crude oil, oil products, copper and basic chemicals. The rise in import prices was curbed by lower prices of electrical products.

From August to September producer price indices rose by between 0.1 and 0.5 per cent. The producer price index for manufactured products went up most, or by 0.5 per cent, primarily due to risen prices of oil products.

Minor updates have been done to the weight structure of the producer price indices at the commodity level. The chaining coefficients have been calculated using point figures from May 2005.
