Producer price indices in January 2006

According to Statistics Finland, producer price indices rose by 3.4 to 10.3 per cent in the year to January. The biggest increase was recorded in import prices, which was particularly attributable to higher prices of crude oil, oil products, copper and zinc. The rise of import prices was curbed by lower prices of electrical products.

From December to January producer price indices increased by 0.4 to 1.9 per cent. The import price index rose by 1.9 per cent. The rise was mainly due to higher prices of crude oil, copper, zinc and basic chemicals.
