Producer price indices in February 2006
Producer prices for manufactured products rose by 3.5 per cent, export prices by 3.1 per cent and import prices by 9.1 per cent in the year to February. Basic price index for domestic supply went up by 5.3 per cent in the year. The year-on-year change in wholesale price index was also 5.3 per cent.
The rise of producer prices for manufactured products was mostly attributable to higher prices of oil products, copper, electricity and pulp from last year's February. The rise was curbed by lower prices of electrical products.
From January to February producer prices for manufactured products increased by 0.6 per cent, the rise being mainly due to higher prices of electricity and copper. The rise of prices was restrained by lower prices of oil products from January.
