Producer Price Indices in June 2006

Produce prices for manufactured products rose by 4.7 per cent, export prices by 3.9 per cent and import prices by 7.1 per cent in the year to June. The basic price index for domestic supply rose by 5.5 per cent in the year. The year-on-year rise in the wholesale price index was 5.5 per cent.

The rise in producer prices for manufactured products was especially attributable to increased prices of oil products, electricity and copper from last year's June. The rise was curbed by lower prices of electrical products.

From May to June producer prices for manufactured products went up by 0.2 per cent, primarily due to risen prices of electricity and oil products.
