Producer Price Indices in July 2007
Producer prices for manufactured goods rose by 2.6 per cent, export prices by 1.9 per cent and import prices by 2.0 per cent from July 2006 to July 2007. The basic price index for domestic supply went up by 4.0 per cent in the year. The year-on-year change in the wholesale price index amounted to 3.6 per cent.
Among the reasons for the risen producer prices for manufactured products were increases in the prices of basic metals and timber from last year's July. The rise in the prices was curbed by falls in the prices of electrical products and oil products.
From June to July, producer prices for manufactured products fell by 0.1 per cent. The fall was mainly due to cheaper nickel. The fall in the prices was held back by, among other things, risen prices of basic chemicals.
