Producer Price Indices in June 2008

Producer prices for manufactured products rose by 4.4 per cent, export prices by 1.7 per cent and import prices by 6.6 per cent from June 2007 to June 2008. The basic price index for domestic supply went up by 6.6 per cent in the year. The year-on-year change in the wholesale price index was 6.3 per cent.

The rise in the producer prices for manufactured products was particularly caused by increased prices of oil products from June 2007. The rise in the prices was held back by fallen prices of nickel, among other things.

From May to June producer prices for manufactured products rose by 0.6 per cent. The increase in the prices was caused especially by risen prices of oil products and electricity. The rise in prices was curbed by fallen prices of non-ferrous metals.
