Producer Price Indices in July 2008
Producer prices for manufactured products rose by 4.9 per cent, export prices by 1.8 per cent and import prices by 7.0 per cent from July 2007 to July 2008. The basic price index for domestic supply went up by 7.1 per cent in the year. The year-on-year change in the wholesale price index was 6.9 per cent.
The rise in the producer prices for manufactured products was particularly caused by increased prices of oil products from July 2007. The rise in prices was curbed by fallen prices of non-ferrous metals.
From June to July producer prices for manufactured products rose by 0.4 per cent. The increase in the prices was caused especially by risen prices of electricity and chemical products. The rise in prices was curbed by fallen prices of oil products and electrical products.
