Producer prices for manufactured products fell by 0.3 per cent from September last year

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products fell by an average of 0.3 per cent from September 2013 to September 2014. The producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market went down by 0.9 per cent, while the producer prices of export products went up by 0.4 per cent.

Producer prices for manufactured products went down especially due to reductions in the prices of oil products, electricity and electronic appliances from last year's September. The fall in producer prices was slowed down, in particular, by higher prices of manufacturing of basic metals.

The Export Price Index rose by 0.2 per cent and the Import Price Index fell by 1.4 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went down by 0.9 per cent. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply including taxes went down by 0.7 per cent.

Export prices were, in particular, boosted by higher prices of manufacturing of basic metals and electrical equipment from September 2013. The rising of the prices was curbed above all by falls in the prices of oil products. The fall in import prices was especially caused by lower prices of oil products and electricity compared with last year's September. The fall in the prices was particularly curbed by risen prices of basic precious metals and other non-ferrous metals.

From August to September, producer prices for manufactured goods went up by 0.2 per cent. The rise was mainly due to higher prices of manufacturing of basic metals compared with the previous month.
