Employment grew and unemployment fell in March 2006

According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, the number of employed persons was 2,395,000 in March, i.e. 30,000 higher than one year before. The employment rate stood at 67.6 per cent, while it was 67.1 per cent in March 2005.

The number of unemployed persons was 211,000 in March, which is 7,000 fewer than one year before. The rate of unemployment was 8.1 per cent, while it was 8.5 per cent one year earlier.
