Share of renewable energy rose to 43 per cent of total energy consumption in 2024

According to Statistics Finland, total energy consumption in Finland amounted to 1.30 million terajoules (TJ) in 2024. Total consumption decreased by one per cent from the previous year. The consumption of fuels continued falling (3 %). Especially, the consumption of fossil fuels and peat decreased by four per cent. The share of renewable energy sources rose to 43 per cent of total energy consumption. According to preliminary data, CO₂ emissions decreased by six per cent.
