Volume of waste generated in 2024 rose only slightly from the previous year

According to Statistics Finland, a total of around 122.4 million tonnes of waste was generated in 2024. This is approximately one per cent more than in 2023. The combined amount of waste generated by manufacturing industries remained stable and increased by close on one per cent. The amount of waste from services, government and households decreased by around six per cent from the amount in 2023.
