Number of employees

Number of employees refers to the total number of full-time employees an enterprise employs during a calendar month. Two half-time employees, for example, represent one full-time employee. An indicator of number of employees is estimated from development in the sum of wages and salaries adjusted for latest change in level of earnings using the data in the Register of Enterprises and Establishments on employees from the two preceding years. The number of employees of an employer or own-account worker is estimated from the development of turnover. The effects of incentive stock options and one-off bonuses are removed from the indicator of number of employees.
