Comprehensive schools had 542,900 pupils in 2014
According to Statistics Finland, comprehensive schools had 542,900 pupils in 2014. The number of pupils in comprehensive school increased by 0.5 per cent from the year before. Forty-nine per cent of the pupils in comprehensive school were girls and 51 per cent were boys.

In all, 7.5 per cent of comprehensive school pupils received intensified support in autumn 2014 and 7.3 per cent special support (see database tables). More about this topic in the statistics on special education to be released in June 2015.
The number of pre-primary education pupils was 60,400, of whom 11,400 were in pre-primary education in schools and 49,000 in day care.
There were 2,633 active comprehensive schools in autumn 2014, which was 84 schools fewer than in the year before. Municipalities ran 96 per cent of the comprehensive schools.
