Use of information and communications technology by individuals 2015 calculated based on the weighting method renewed in 2016

The survey on use of information and communications technology by individuals moved from telephone interviews to a mixed-mode data collection in 2016, where respondents aged 16 to 69 could select between filling out a web questionnaire and a telephone interview and respondents aged 70 to 89 were interviewed by telephone.

As a result of the change in the data collection method, the method with which the research data pertaining to persons are weighted to correspond to the population of the whole country with consideration to non-response was also renewed in 2016. The new calculation method also takes into account the respondents’ level of education and native language. In order for the results from the 2016 and 2015 surveys to be comparable in terms of the calculation method of the weights, a revision was made in the 2015 data by calculating the individual weights using the new method.

The appendix tables of the 2015 release pertaining to individuals are republished calculated from the revised data. The figures of the appendix tables change from those released in 2015 but the changes are primarily quite minor. For this reason, the texts of the release publication and review for 2015 have not been changed, for which reason the figures there may differ somewhat from the figures of the renewed appendix tables.
