Producer prices for manufactured products fell by 0.9 per cent in November

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products fell by an average of 0.9 per cent from November 2012 to November 2013. Producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market remained unchanged, while the producer prices of export products went down by 2.0 per cent.

Producer prices for manufactured products went down especially due to reductions in the prices of oil products, manufacturing of basic metals, chemicals and chemical products from last year's November. The falling of producer prices was curbed particularly by higher prices of district heat, wood and products of wood and machinery and equipment.

The Export Price Index fell by 2.1 per cent and the Import Price Index by 3.3 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went down by 0.9 per cent. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply including taxes went up by 0.1 per cent.

Export prices declined especially due to lower prices of oil products and manufacturing of basic metals from the previous year's November. The falling of the prices was curbed particularly by higher prices of machinery and equipment and electrical appliances. The fall in import prices was in turn especially caused by lower prices of crude oil and manufacturing of basic metals compared with November 2012. The fall in the prices was particularly curbed by risen price of rubber and plastics products.

From October to November, producer prices for manufactured goods fell by 0.3 per cent. The fall was mainly due to decreased prices of electricity and oil products from the previous month.
