Producer prices for manufactured products grew by 6.7 per cent from March last year

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products went up by an average of 6.7 per cent from March 2020 to March 2021. The producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market rose by 6.5 per cent, while the producer prices of export products went up by 6.9 per cent.

The rise in the producer prices for manufactured products was particularly caused by higher prices of oil products, electricity and basic metals from last year's March.

The export price index rose by 6.9 per cent and the import price index by 7.7 per cent in the year. The basic price index for domestic supply went up by 5.3 per cent. The basic price index for domestic supply including taxes rose by 5.3 per cent.

The rise in the export price index was especially due to higher prices of oil products and basic metals from last year’s March. The fall in the import price index was, in turn, especially caused by increased prices of crude oil and oil products and basic metals.

From February to March, producer prices for manufactured goods rose by 1.4 per cent. Producer prices were particularly boosted by the risen prices of oil products compared with the previous month.
