1 Introduction

This annual Labour Force Survey publication contains statistical data on employment, unemployment, employment relationships and working hours of the population aged 15 to 74. The data derive from the Labour Force Survey, which is a sample-based monthly interview survey. The concepts and definitions used in the Labour Force Survey comply with the recommendations of the ILO, the International Labour Organisation, and EU regulations concerning official statistics. The statistical data of the Survey are thus internationally comparable.

A review with the heading of Employment and Unemployment in 2012 was issued early in the year from the annual Labour Force Survey data concerning 2012. In this publication, Labour Force Survey time series data for 2003 to 2012 and 2008 to 2012, as well as annual data concerning the year 2012, have been added to the review mentioned above.

The previous annual review and this present annual publication are available on the web pages of the Labour Force Survey ( ). This annual publication is also published as a hard copy.

Monthly and quarterly data are available on the web pages of the Labour Force Survey, and time series tables complementing this publication from Statistics Finland’s database ( ).
