Finance of housing companies: New database tables replacing old tables have been published in the statistics

The statistics were renewed in connection with the publication of data for 2025. New database tables replace the old database tables that are archived.

Revisions have been made to the processing of the statistics. The processing of floor areas has been improved so that too large floor areas are corrected more easily than before with register data. The new processing was applied retrospectively to the data for the statistical reference year 2024, too. The new database tables start from the statistical reference year 2024 and the data are not comparable with statistical reference years prior to that.

Due to the new processing method, the floor areas of housing companies decreased. In the total data, the floor areas for the statistical reference year 2024 are, on average, 2.4 per cent smaller than with the old processing method. In the companies in which the floor areas changed due to the revisions, the floor areas decreased by an average of 6.0 per cent. For this reason, the values per square metre in the profit and loss account items are higher with the new processing than with the old one.

In Table “15gh - Number of housing companies by year of construction and major region”, the number of companies included in the sample frame is 6.1 per cent lower in 2025 than in the previous year, because housing companies with detached and semi-detached houses not belonging to the population are now excluded from the frame more precisely than before. New categories have also been added to the numbers table: Greater Helsinki and the rest of Finland without Greater Helsinki.
