Prices of dwellings in housing companies: The base year of the statistics has been updated to 2025

A new reference period was adopted in the statistics on prices of dwellings in housing companies in connection with the publication of data for 2026 in June 2026. The new base year is 2025=100.

The regional classifications, price review procedures and data processing process were updated in connection with the renewal regarding old dwellings in housing companies. Because of these changes, average prices and distribution figures are not fully comparable with those published previously.

The classification and method of new dwellings in housing companies were updated to correspond better to the present market situation. In the renewal, the use of building types and numbers of rooms was discontinued in the classification of the price index of new dwellings in housing companies, and the classification has been based only on regional divisions. In future, building types and numbers of rooms are taken into consideration in the quality standardisation method of the index. In addition, the quality standardisation method of the index was updated by increasing the amount of data used in estimating the quality standardisation model: previously, the estimation was based on data from the relevant statistical quarter, whereas it is now based on data from the preceding three years.
