Labour cost survey: Changes in database tables

The sector categories of local government have changed 

The sector categories of local government have changed in database tables 13u7 and 13tx of the labour cost survey. The previously published sector category “local government sector, total” has been renamed “local government” and its content corresponds to local government sector total.

The previously published sector categories “municipalities” and “joint municipal authorities” are no longer published for 2024. They have been replaced by local government sub-sectors “local government excl. wellbeing services county administration” and “wellbeing services county administration”. These local government sub-sectors differ structurally from the previously published sub-sectors.

“Local government excl. wellbeing services county administration” includes data on municipalities and joint municipal authorities, and “wellbeing services county administration” includes data on wellbeing services counties and joint county authorities for wellbeing services.

The change enters into force in connection with the release of the statistics for 2024 on 29 September 2026.

Not all labour cost items are published

The labour cost items “Total” and “Private sector, total (B-S)” published earlier in database tables 13u7 of the labour cost survey and the labour cost items “4.1. Holiday pays”, “4.2. Pay for mid-week holidays” and “4.3. Total pays for other times off” published in database table 13u8 for private sector industries are not published for 2024.

The reason for the change is the renewal of the data content, data collection
and estimation method of the labour force survey used as source data for the
labour cost survey at the beginning of 2021.

The change enters into force in connection with the release of the statistics for 2024 on 29 September 2026.

Database table 13u8 was corrected

Database table 13u8 was corrected for 2016 and 2020. There has been erroneous
information in private sector industries “O-S Welfare services (84-96)”, “O
Public administration and defence; compulsory social security (84)” and "P
Education (85)" since the release of the labour cost survey for 2020.

The correction enters into force in connection with the release of the statistics
for 2024 on 29 September 2026.
