Road traffic accidents

The geographic dataset contains road traffic accidents involving personal injury known to the police in Finland and reported to Statistics Finland, which accidents contain coordinate data.

The statistics on road traffic accidents are published once a month as preliminary data. The final annual statistics on which the open geographic information is based will be completed approximately 13 months after the end of the statistical year.

The dataset can be used directly in Paikkatietoikkuna or by means of interface addresses in geographic information software.

Examination of dataset in Paikkatietoikkuna

You can study a dataset on the map of Paikkatietoikkuna without any separate geographic information software.

Move the map where you want by dragging the map. Zoom in or out the map to the desired scale level either by rotating the middle mouse button or by clicking the plus and minus signs in the map view.

Use of dataset in the geographic information software

You can use the dataset in the geographic information software by means of interface addresses. Please note that the addresses intended for the geographic information software do not function as such in the web browser but you need a separate geographic information software to use them.
