Producer prices for manufactured products rose by 4.5 per cent, export prices by 4.0 per cent and import prices by 9.3 per cent in the year to April. The basic price index for domestic supply rose by 6.0 per cent in the year. The year-on-year change in the wholesale price index was 6.2 per cent.
The rise of import prices was particularly attributable to higher prices of crude oil, oil products, copper, aluminium and zinc from last year's April. The rise was curbed by lower prices of electrical products.
From March to April import prices rose by 2.1 per cent. The rise was mainly due to higher prices of crude oil and basic metals.
