Update extraction for data under a user license

Statistics Finland may grant a research project advance permission for data updates for future years. The granted user license specifies the years of data covered by the license. Advance permissions may be granted for ready-made datasets, as well as for released datasets with identifiers and cause-of-death data.

Ready-made datasets are updated automatically, meaning that new annual data become available to the project in FIONA in accordance with the user license as soon as they are released. However, if year or population restrictions have been applied to the ready-made dataset, a separate request for a data update must be submitted. Identified datasets released and cause-of-death data are also updated upon a separate request.

Update extraction request

The update request must concern data and data years covered by the valid user license. The request is submitted in Statistics Finland’s licensing service.

Price of an update extraction

Update extraction requests are invoiced separately. No user license fee is charged for an update extraction request, as the user license already exists, but the data processing work is charged according to the price list.
