What should be considered when you are planning a study with unit-level datasets?
Unit-level datasets are available from Statistics Finland for scientific studies and statistical surveys. A user licence must be applied for to use datasets. The datasets, user licence, tailoring of datasets and remote access are subject to charge.
Statistical legislation and the data protection and confidentiality practices specified in legislation are applied in compiling and releasing the dataset.
Ready-made and tailored datasets
Statistics Finland has compiled ready-made research data packages for research use, which are called ready-made datasets. In addition, we can tailor datasets to order for specific research needs. In addition to ready-made and tailored datasets, interview-based research datasets are also available from Statistics Finland for research use.
Most research datasets can be used only in the FIONA remote access environment, and only some separately defined datasets can be released to researchers. It is indicated in connection with dataset presentations whether the dataset is a remote access dataset or whether it can be released.
